My teaching is grounded in the belief that the classroom can be a site of liberation, mutual empowerment, and transformative intellectual growth—a philosophy shaped early on by co-developing a sociology course with incarcerated and university students at the San Luis Obispo County Jail. My courses equip students with critical sociological tools, strategies for engaging challenging material, and habits of dialogue and collaboration that extend beyond the classroom, often through peer-led workshops, collaborative projects, and community-engaged research.
